Capsule History of Sundance Cattle Company

Sundance Cattle Company was the brainchild of an informal gathering of friends that met starting around 1975 at the Barn
to play pool.  Over time, this group of people decided it was they wanted to start a legacy, so they founded Sundance in 1980
with their home bar being the Barn.  Houston GLBT Hall-of-Famer Marion Coleman was one of the most prominent
members of the club from during this time.

Later in time, the club would move its colors to Cousins, but little remains from this period in history as well.

Then, came the famous years at Mary's of which many fond memories remain for many of our honorary members plus the
paper trail tells of our many anniversary events there that were attended by some current Houston organizations,
out-of-town clubs, and defunct groups such as the Texas Riders or the Rainbow Wranglers.  Golden Eras of the club
happened at Mary's and saw such greats as Lady Victoria Lust, Eartha Quake, and Fanny Farmer be very active helping out
the community.

On Leap Day in 2008, Sundance Cattle Company moved its colors to George's Country Sports Bar in a celebration that
brought together a diverse crowd from the community, including representatives from many of the area organizations and
even more individuals.  The first LUEY at George's occurred in 2009 which kicked off the club's comeback into the
community after a rough period that followed Hurricane Ike.

Due to our major growth between LUEY 2009 and 2010, we needed to find a bigger space in which to hold our meetings and
events.  As a result, the club voted overwhelmingly at its meeting on March 5, 2010, to move its colors to EJ's, which truly
draws people from all walks of life in addition to having a big patio, a good stage and sound system, and a margarita bar!
Most importantly, EJ's can accommodate the big crowds that help make community events grand.

At the very same historic meeting on March 5, 2010, Sundance gained its first honorary member in several years as
reigning Member of the Year Rome Rivera got the requisite unanimous vote!

We are now in a new Golden Era for Sundance Cattle Company as we grow and strive to help the community!!!!
